Indian oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan met the newly appointed US energy secretary Rick Perry in Washington March 8 to discuss export of LNG to India from early 2018. Indian investment in LNG and shale sector in the US were also discussed, the Indian embassy in Washington said.
Pradhan March 7 told journalists in Houston that India is open to importing more LNG from US if the price is right. Indian Gail has a 20-year 3.5mn mt/yr contract with Sabine Pass Liquefaction. The supplies are expected to start later this year. Qatar is the biggest LNG supplier to India.

On the margins of CERA Week, the minister met his counterpart from Saudi Arabia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Canada and CEO of ADNOC. He also met BP’s Bob Dudley and IEA’s Fatih Birol.
